St. Vincent de Paul

Members of the Society of St.Vincent de Paul (or "Vincentians" ) are men and women who strive to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to individuals in need. We are young and old. Our members come in every shade of skin color. Some of us are wealthy, some are financially poor, but all of us are blessed with an awareness that our blessings (time, talent or treasure) are to be shared with our brothers and sisters in need.

We know that we are not alone. We are part of an international society of friends united by a spirit of poverty, humility, and sharing, which is nourished by prayer and reflection, mutually supportive gatherings, and adherence to a basic Rule.

Mass Service

To server at the Holy Mass is not only a privilege but it is an honor. There are many ways to participate in the Mass as a way to serve God and your community.

Lectors: This is an opportunity to proclaim the Word of God to the community during the Mass. In preparing for weekend Masses, the Lector gets a chance to become more familiar with the readings for each week. Through this prayerful preparation a person will grow closer to God through the scriptures.

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist (EME): These are lay people who assist the priests and deacons (the Ordinary Ministers of the Eucharist) with the distribution of the Holy Eucharist. The EME is entrusted to distribute Communion not only at Mass but to assist the priests and deacons in bringing communion to the sick and the homebound.

Ushers: The Usher is intended to care for welcoming parishioners and for the practical needs of the Mass. An Usher welcomes parishioners as they arrive ensuring they have worship aids and assists parishioners with seating if necessary. They oversee the collections and act as stewards of the Community's tithing. The Usher is meant to be the visible face of the Church. Men and women are welcome to join this team.

Choir: Do you like to sing? Consider joining our Choir and improving our liturgies with your musical talents. Our Liturgy and Music Director, Lynn Burns, is always looking for people who are willing to join our Choir.

Sacristans: With six Masses each weekend, sacristans play a vital role in setting up and preparing all the liturgical needs for the Mass. A sacristan will make sure that there are enough hosts, prepare the vessels, set out the liturgical books, and invite parishioners to bring up the gifts. The sacristan also ensures that all of the sacred vessels are properly cared for after the Mass is complete.

All of these opportunities are easy and training is provided.
